About BetterSew

Hello, my name is Inna, and these girls are my BetterSew assistants!

You know, my first education has nothing to do with sewing or garment construction, but the profession of a designer always attracted me, and I always wanted to have stylish clothes made by my own hands. So I studied several pattern making techniques, but still had to make a lot of adjustments to the patterns. It's also very difficult to create complex draping on paper, for example, you can show it on fabric, but not on a drawing. And it's not very convenient to alter clothing on yourself without seeing yourself from the side, right?

Of course, I had mannequins, even a few. But one doesn't hold pins, another has the wrong dimensions, and the third melts when ironed... So, I wanted to somehow make a more convenient dress form for myself. It wasn't easy, I struggled to find suitable materials and methods to put it all together. Finally, the fourth prototype turned out successful, a standard size M (US Size 6). I enjoyed working with it: I could both sew my own designed clothes and adjust purchased clothes to fit my figure.

My dress forms of various sizes helped me create several wedding dresses, one of which I even made remotely, without fittings at all. The only thing I had to do was adjust the bust of the mannequin to match the figure. You can compare how the dress looks on the dress form and on the girl.

I'm also fascinated by historical clothing, especially corsets and how women's figures look in them. So the next step was a special corset dress form, similar to the dress forms for sewing S-Bend Edwardian Corsets.

That's how the idea of BetterSew dress form came about. With a small team, we have done our best to describe and photograph all the nuances, prepare the packages with patterns and instructions in user-friendly formats, so you only have to print the patterns on a regular printer and start creating.

I hope that the dress form made by your own hands will help you bring all your designer dreams to life. If you have any questions about sewing, please write to us, and we will try to help.
